A FEW years ago a group of us were on Stephen McEleny’s stag weekend in Torremolinos when we bumped into an ex-Morton player who was genuinely surprised at how well thought of he was amongst the Morton supporters.

After only playing for a year or so at Cappielow, he made such a huge impact on many of us with his never-say-die attitude and his level of commitment in every game, and of course for THAT goal at Parkhead.

Welcome back to Cappielow Dougie Imrie.

We all hope you can make as much of an impact as a manager in a very short period of time as you did as a player.

Even after signing a pre-contract for Hamilton Accies he still showed that level of effort and commitment, including one of perhaps only two players who got pass marks in the infamous 10-2 defeat on the final day of the season.

If he can build on the excellent point gained at Kilmarnock last week, somehow get us out of the relegation area and also gel the bond between the players and supporters he might surpass that night at Celtic Park.

Hopefully the 500 or so Morton supporters who are allowed into Cappielow on Saturday will give Dougie and his players excellent support against Dunfermline in a massive game which if we win will get us off the bottom of the table and hopefully begin the journey to safety.
