PERSONALLY I am not a great lover of Friday night football - but after Morton’s display against Kilmarnock I might just change my opinion.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable game to watch and a major improvement with regards to creativity than we have seen lately.

The fact that we bossed the league leaders for large periods of the game came as a bit of a surprise to me.

But it shows we have a team capable of competing at the top end of the league if they play to their potential.

The major talking point from the game was obviously the contentious decision to award an extremely soft penalty to the visitors which ultimately led to us gaining only one point instead of the three that I believe would have secured our security from relegation.

Even Ally McCoist brought up the subject and travesty of the decision during commentary of the Old Firm game on Sunday, so it’s not just supporters with an allegiance to Morton that felt the decision was incorrect.

Anyway, let’s enjoy the positives from Friday’s game and more importantly the magnificent job that Dougie Imrie is doing with a squad of players who are on the brink of securing our Championship status despite looking like relegation certainties at Christmas.
