SATURDAY’S trip to Kirkcaldy eventually proved to be a significant win for Morton as it confirmed we cannot be automatically relegated from the Championship which allows Dougie Imrie to achieve goal number one.
Goal number two of ensuring we won’t get dragged into the relegation play-off position should hopefully be realised this coming weekend as only a series of freak results over the final three games would allow us to have to extend the season.
I think it would take Dunfermline to win all three games, Ayr to win two and Hamilton one for us to finish second bottom - and that is assuming we don’t pick up any points in those final three matches.
Imrie has performed a minor miracle in turning our season around and he should receive massive plaudits for doing this.
I think it’s also fair to give credit to MCT and the board of directors for replacing the previous manager and appointing Imrie even though it looked like financial suicide in my opinion at the time.
Finally credit to each and every one of the players for giving us something to sing and cheer about in what previously was a miserable season!
