SEASON 20021-22 ended on Friday night for us Morton supporters as over 250 travelled through to Arbroath to watch a team that was very much understrength fall to defeat against the surprise team of the year.

Even though it was a tough game to watch, thankfully the travelling support gave the team tremendous backing and stayed on until the end of the game to thank Dougie Imrie and the boys for the magnificent effort they produced since Christmas.

What Friday did show was that Dougie has a huge job trying to recruit sufficient quality for next season, as the squad we currently have signed up so far is clearly not good enough to survive in the Championship never mind compete at the top end of the league.

Not for the first time this season Jack Hamilton almost single handily kept the scoreline down and for me he was a clear winner of the Morton player of the year.

As I write this on Sunday evening I personally have voted for Jack in three awards.

I know he lost out to Alan Lithgow for the GMGT award but I would expect him to win both the MCT and Morton Supporters Club awards.

Special mention, though, from myself should also go to the likes of Alan Lithgow, Lewis Strapp and Oisin McAntee who in my opinion ran Jack close for the player of the year award.
