GREENOCK footballer Nicky Low says he's relishing Arbroath's Premiership play-off bid as he aims to help the part-timers pull off a shock promotion to the top flight.

The midfielder was part of Dick Campbell's side who defied the odds by producing an unlikely Championship title push before falling just short as they lost out to eventual winners Kilmarnock by two points.

Despite the disappointment of narrowly missing out on claiming top spot and automatic promotion, the 30-year-old believes the Red Lichties will be ready to pick themselves up and go again ahead of the semi-final first leg tomorrow.

He told the Tele: "It would be an incredible achievement.

"Everyone would be absolutely delighted, especially when you are not expected to be up the top of the table challenging.

"When we were up there challenging at the start everybody probably thought, including myself, that we would go away and couldn't keep up, but our consistency was amazing during the season.

"It would be surreal for everybody to be involved at the club if we managed to go and do it.

"No matter who we play it is going to be very tough.

"We will give it a good bash and see where it takes us, but if we don’t do it, it won’t be for a lack of trying.

"We will give it everything."

"You want to play every game and we just have to look forward to it."

The Red Lichties bounced back from their defeat to Killie with a 3-0 win over Morton.

Low says it was crucial to build momentum going into the play-offs, as the Gayfield club look to return to the top flight for the first time since the 1970s.

He said: "It was good for the boys who have been playing every week to get a rest.

"There were boys who needed some minutes and it was a good showing overall against Morton and the Kilmarnock game is out the system now.

"We will have a good week of training and then be ready to go whoever we have to face."
