GREENOCK footballer Nicky Low has revealed that playing for boyhood heroes Morton one day would be a dream come true.

Having grown up a Ton supporter, the Arbroath midfielder says he would regret hanging up his boots without having the chance to pull on the blue and white jersey.

The 30-year-old knocked back offers from the Cappielow club in the past as the 'timing wasn't right' but he says he'd be delighted to join his hometown team in future.

He told the Tele: “I grew up a Morton fan and I was a ball boy as a youngster.

“All my mates are diehard Morton fans, and I have played there a few times.

“I got offered a couple of deals before but the time wasn’t right.

“It would hurt if I never pulled on a Morton jersey before I retired, but I don’t want to just go when I have finished my career.

“I would only go if I thought I could help play a part."

Low's season ended in heartbreak last night after Arbroath were beaten on penalties in the semi final of the play-offs.

He says he has been impressed by the turnaround since Dougie Imrie took charge at Morton in December.

He said: "They have a decent squad there, I know Dougie and I have spoken to him previously to wish him well when he came in.

“He has done a magnificent job, hopefully they will kick on next year and be stronger.

“Since he has come in, they have been brilliant, albeit the last few games of the season they lost.”
