MORTON boss Dougie Imrie has today quashed rumours linking him with other Championship clubs and insists he's focused on the job at hand at Cappielow.

Imrie has been subject to recent speculation linking him the vacant Raith Rovers job as well as reports suggesting Hamilton Accies are interested in his services.

However, the 38-year-old says he is enjoying every minute at the club as he continues building his squad for his first full season in charge of Morton.

He told the Tele: "I have been in football a long time to know that you don’t listen to rumours.

"I have a job to do here at Morton and that is what I am fully focused on.

"If you start looking into different things then you start getting distracted on what you are trying to do.

"For me I don’t really listen and look too much into it.

"I am here to do a job at Morton and loving every minute of it, so I will continue my job here until other things change, but at the moment it is all rumours as far as I am concerned."

Robbie Muirhead, Cameron Blues, Gary Oliver, Iain Wilson, Lewis Strapp and Jack Hamilton have been offered new deals while Brian McLean and Gozie Ugwu are in discussions with the club over their futures.

Imrie says he is still awaiting decisions from the eight players on whether they are staying or leaving Cappielow.

He said: "It is as it was. The players were offered deals, we are just waiting on them coming back to the club to see where we are.

"But we will need to be getting a bit of a move on to see if they are either signing or if we need to go and get other targets in the building.

"I never really put a timeframe on it, but obviously the season is now well over, we are now three weeks since the last game of the season, for us we want to be building and we want to try and get business done as quickly as possible.

"We are in that process at the moment."

On Monday Imrie was delighted to welcome Jack Baird as his first summer signing from Ayr United and hopes to have more new arrivals through the door soon.

The Ton boss said: "We have done well to get big Jack done, and there are one or two others that are in the pipeline.

"We are moving on and I’ll need to make contact with the boys who were offered deals in the next few days to see where we are with them."

Imrie wants the club to wrap up deals for current and potential new players as quickly as possible as they try and build towards a successful season in the Championship next campaign.

He added: "I think we are in a good place to try and attract players to the club, but again it comes down to what you can offer players.

"Players are always trying to get that wee bit extra, and they will keep their options open which is fair enough.

"I get that, I have been there as a player so I know how it works, but you can only wait so long and you have got to move on.

"We're only in May so we have time on our hands, but we don’t want to be leaving it too long, because every other club will be in the market at the moment to try and get players in and get squads built.

"We are in that process but we have to try and get our business done as quickly as we can."
