PORT Glasgow boss Stevie Wilson believes his new-look attack will cause rival defences havoc this season.

The Undertakers manager says his top priority when he arrived at the club back in April was to bolstering the Parklea side's frontline.

Last season saw the Port struggle to come up with the goals to lift them into the top half of Conference B.

However, with Johnny Gallacher and Macaulay McArthur joining the club and experienced striker Jamie McKenna arriving from Ardrossan, Wilson is confident that won't be an issue this term.

He told the Tele: "We were looking at the top end of the pitch.

"Both boxes are really important but we needed to make sure we have goals in the team.

"Signing Macaulay McArthur, John Gallacher and re-signing Jamie McKay, and then bringing in Jamie McKenna means our attacking options are really good.

"I am excited about seeing it all coming together, especially in an attacking sense.

"We will probably look to strengthen now in the centre-back areas.

"We just need another couple of bodies possibly, and another goalkeeper to challenge Bryan Tucker.

"We are up to about 15 signed players and we are hoping that we can sign a couple this weekend."

Wilson says pre-season preparations have gone to plan so far as his side get set for life in League Three.

He said: "Everything has been excellent. Having just taken over it was a case of getting the recruitment done, speaking to existing players and start speaking to new signings.

"That has all gone really well and I'm delighted with some of the signings we have made.

"We started pre-season training last Saturday and it was good to get back on the training park again and to see the boys.

"That buzz kicked in again for the start of the season, so we're delighted with what has been done so far and where we are at the moment.

"We will probably still try and look at recruiting possibly another three or four.

"We are looking at the young squad that we have and the 20s squad have been up training with us, so we're keeping an eye on some of those boys as well."

Wilson has told his players he expects them to hit the ground running when the season kicks off on July 30.

And the Port manager hopes his confident approach will rub off on his team.

He added: "Every job I have gone into I have gone in all guns blazing, as in we want to be successful.

"We won’t just come in to see how we get on and have a gradual build.

"We think we have put a squad together that is going to go for it right away.

"That is the way I have always worked and will continue to work.

"There is no point coming in half-hearted and saying 'we will just wait and see'.

"Let’s have a go at it right away."
