NEW Morton signing Jaze Kabia says he's relishing the chance to excite the Cappielow faithful after his loan move from Livingston was completed.

A deal had been in the pipeline for several weeks, with the 21-year-old featuring in Dougie Imrie's team’s three recent pre-season friendlies as a trialist.

Kabia got on the scoresheet in Ton's closed-doors friendly win over Stenhousemuir last week.

Now he his aiming to impress in front of the home support - starting in Ton's opening Premier Sports Cup clash against Falkirk.

He told the Tele: "It would be brilliant getting out in front of the fans and playing here for the first time.

"It is the first competitive game of the season, everyone is going to be there to see what we are about and I am looking forward to it.

"Hopefully I can help contribute in some sort of way and just do my best and show people what I am about."

The wide man is delighted the move was completed yesterday after a deal had been in the pipeline for several weeks.

Kabia said: "It was just sorting details out between the two clubs really. It wasn’t really a trial period.

"Obviously there were the reasons why I couldn’t be named in the friendlies, but I'm delighted to get it over the line now and officially be a Morton player, so I am looking forward to it."

The move sees the Irishman reunited with former Livi coach Imrie, who he worked with at the Tony Macaroni Arena last season.

Kabia says the chance to work with the Ton manager again was the main reason behind making the move.

He said: "I got along well with Dougie, and he just spoke to Davie Martindale about potentially getting me here on loan.

"As soon as I heard about it, I was excited straight away.

“I know what Dougie is about and he always helped me when I was at Livingston, so the chance to work under him full time and give my all for him was a good opportunity that I couldn’t turn down.

"I am over the moon just to come to this club and be given the opportunity to go and show what I am made of.

"I am looking forward to the task ahead."

Having spent the second half of last season on loan at the Falkirk Stadium, the winger admits it will be a strange situation coming up against his former club.

Kabia added: “I was on loan at Falkirk last season so playing against them now will be a bit weird, but obviously I'm looking forward to it being a Morton player now.

"I will do everything in my power to get the three points here.”

Having featured in the three friendlies so far and getting on the scoresheet against Stenhousemuir, the ex-Shelbourne man is looking to make up for lost time having missed the end of the last campaign through injury.

He said: "It was good to get minutes under my belt.

"Towards the end of last season I suffered my second knee injury of the season, so I missed out on the end of it.

"To be back playing and just being back out on the pitch and enjoying my football was great.

“Obviously we had some good results and I chipped in with a goal.

"I was very pleased with the way it has gone and we are coming along nicely now going into Saturday."
