STAND-IN Morton skipper Cameron Blues has told his young team-mates they can be proud of their performance after coming through a goalless draw with Falkirk with only 12 players.
The 26-year-old was given the honour of captaining the side in the absence of Kyle Jacobs through injury.
With a number of injuries and suspensions, Ton had a real lack of options heading into the Premier Sports Cup opener and had youngster Lewis McGregor as their only substitute.
The midfielder says the tie could have gone either way during the 90 minutes before they lost the penalty shootout.
He told the Tele: "There wasn’t much in the game and obviously the red cards are the talking points.
"I didn’t really see the incidents but they are ones that can go either way.
"We limited them in terms of their chances and created some of our own, and then penalties are a lottery.
"I think Craig McGuffie could have done with the header and they hit the bar, but so did we through Reece Lyon and he was unlucky.
"We are still building up our fitness and I think we did well with only having 12 fit players.
"Hopefully we can get guys back for the next one and just start to prepare for that."
