WHAT a difference a week makes in the life and times of a Morton supporter.

We went from total dejection after the defeats to Falkirk and Clyde to a level of optimism following the wins against both Hibs and Bonnyrigg Rose.

The 150 or so of us who travelled through to Edinburgh on Wednesday probably did so more in hope than expectation of any kind of acceptable performance from the boys.

Credit should be given to the team as they dug in and defended superbly thus ensuring the trip home for all connected with Morton was a happy one.

On Saturday we expected to win and did so with a performance that was easy on the eye at times but more or less petered out in the second half.

To have any chance of surviving without the threat of relegation this season will certainly require a mixture of the dogged display against Hibs and the attacking threat shown on Saturday.

If we can achieve both of these then we might have reason for optimism, although to be honest I do expect more lows than highs for the season ahead unless we can get additional quality into the squad!
