MORTON boss Dougie Imrie admits his side have work to do despite seeing off Cove Rangers courtesy of a Jai Quitongo wonder strike.

The Ton manager praised his men for picking up three points in front of the Cappielow faithful, but he believes there's still room for improvement.

He also hailed Quitongo for securing his side the victory with a spectacular strike after the front man missed two chances in the first half.

Imrie told the Tele: "I'm pleased to get the victory.

"I spoke to the boys before the game about the importance of getting off to a good start at home in the league and thankfully we've followed up and picked up the points.

"Jai could've had a hat-trick on another day, but in the first half we were a bit scrappy.

"That will come when all strikers get another chance in a game and thankfully in the second half it did come and he's buried it into the top right corner.

"From a Cove point of view, they'll be disappointed with how it's come about but we'll take it.

"It's pleasing to get the win but there are certain aspects of the game in which we could do better at.

"We did show both sides of the game and I think we could get better - we could be less erratic and get on the ball more often but that will come, the boys are still trying to gel.

"But overall I'm pleased we've been able to pick up the three points."
