JAZE Kabia insists the best is yet to come from Morton and he feels the new-look side have still to reach their peak.

Dougie Imrie's men picked up their first three points of the campaign with a 1-0 win over Cove Rangers at Cappielow to move joint top of the Championship.

While the Irishman says the mood in the camp has been lifted by the result, Kabia revealed the players' focus has been on improving their game.

He told the Tele: "Yes we got the win on Saturday and could go on and enjoy it on Sunday.

"But we came back in and analysed it as we always do.

"I still don’t think it was our best game despite getting the three points against a very good team.

"There are still areas we can go and improve and work on.

"We have now made a good start, but it has only been two games."

Jai Quitongo’s first goal since making the return to the club for a second spell was enough to separate the two sides.

Kabia was full of praise for the forward and revealed the result has raised the spirits around the club.

The 22-year-old says putting the shackles on Cove danger man Mitch Megginson was crucial to securing victory in front of their own fans.

He said: "The mood in the camp has been great after the win at the weekend, but it always has been since I came in the door.

"It really lifts everyone around the place after a win.

"We enjoyed Saturday but now it's just about getting back to work and shifting our attentions on to the next one.

"It was a close game, both sides had their chances, but there wasn’t too much in it in the first half.

"The manager brought us in and changed the system at half-time and we went on and thankfully Jai came up with the magic, so we are all buzzing about it.

"We knew Cove are a good team and we knew it would be a tough test.

"The manager really focused on that, and I thought we did well to stop them and then create chances of our own."

Morton's next opponents Raith Rovers sit bottom of the Championship having lost their opening two fixtures.

Despite a difficult start for Ian Murray's men, Kabia says they won't be taking the Kirkcaldy men lightly when they visit Stark's Park on Saturday.

He added: “Raith definitely can’t be underestimated.

"There are no easy games in this league, and they will make it difficult for any team.

"You saw that last season, any team can beat anyone.

"Raith are a well-established Championship team, so nobody in the changing room will be taking them lightly.

"Our focus and attention now turns to Saturday."
