CAMERON Blues believes Morton's new-look side is starting to gel after a summer of change at Cappielow.

Manager Dougie Imrie has recruited nine new signings so far in the transfer window and tweaked his system as Ton look to build on last season's seventh place finish.

Blues says things are starting to click into place and has warned rivals they'll be a force to be reckoned with when they fully hit their stride.

He told the Tele: "We played 3-5-2 all last year, but the gaffer changed it up towards the end.

"This year it is a new front four getting used to playing with each other, and it is a new formation which is different for us.

"We're playing without wing backs and we’ve gone to two holding midfielders now instead of one, so we’re getting used to it.

"We’re working on it every day, and hopefully it will click soon and it will see us getting some positive results."

Blues believes there was plenty to be happy about in his team’s display against Dundee but knows his side must put away their chances if they are to start converting more draws into wins.

He said: "I thought we could have maybe nicked the three points.

"It was a good performance, there were positive aspects in the game.

"I thought we defended our box really well. It is just about getting goals at the other end.

"With a bit of luck on our side Jack Baird’s header would have fallen in, but there were positives to build on.

"With some chances in the first half as well, we have to be clinical.

"It is a mistake that maybe gets you a chance in this league, so when we get the chances, we need to take them.

"But we are looking forward now, we learn from our mistakes, and try and put it right on Saturday."

The 24-year-old has been deployed in a slightly deeper role in recent weeks and the former Livingston man says he's happy to play wherever is necessary in Imrie's line-up.

Blues started alongside new signing Robbie Crawford against the Dark Blues on Saturday and he has backed the ex-Partick Thistle man to be a huge asset for Morton this season.

He added: "I always try to play what happens in the game, play what I see, make runs and do a job defensively for the team.

"If I can get a couple of goals then I’m happy, but I don’t mind where I play to be honest.

"Robbie has settled in right away. It was excellent playing with him, he knows a few of the boys from his time at Livingston.

"I trained with him for a couple of months when I was there as well and I know he is a top player, and he has played at a very good level.

"Robbie has played consistently in this league in good teams. Inside the dressing room we were all buzzing that we managed to get a player like him and it can only give us confidence."
