MORTON boss Dougie Imrie says he hasn't ruled out dipping into the loan market after the transfer window shut last night.

The Ton manager had hoped to strengthen his squad before tomorrow's clash with Ayr United and he revealed he missed out on a couple of signing targets to other clubs.

Championship teams can still make short-term signings from the Premiership until the end of this month and the 39-year-old says it's a market he will explore if the right players become available.

He told the Tele: "We are trying our hardest to try and get players in.

"It is difficult, it is not like we can go and buy players.

"Obviously we will need to try and do it through the loan market, but if we can’t get anybody in, it is not for the lack of trying that is for sure.

"One or two players that I have had my eye on have gone to other clubs, but that is just football.

"We will keep trying to get one or two in if we can, but if it doesn’t happen, we still got to the end of the month to bring in loans from Scotland.

"The window for us is still open to the end of September.

"We’ll keep working hard and if it materialises then great but if not we just need to keep working hard and then move forward."

Morton have brought in nine signings this summer, with Jack Baird Imrie's first recruit in the transfer window.

Imrie says he is happy with the reinforcements he has brought and will be satisfied with the business they have completed.

He said: "The boys are brilliant.

"I'm happy with who is in the building. Like I say if we can add one or two more to help then great, but if we can’t, we can only get in what is available.

"If there is nothing available I don’t want to just bring in bodies for the sake of it.

"They need to be the right people for Morton and the team, so if I can’t get the right type that I want in the building then they’ll be nobody else getting added."
