I THINK it is fair to say that many supporters throughout Scotland see the SPFL Trust Trophy as a competition with little or no value.

Morton are no different as under 1,000 supporters turned up on Thursday to watch us qualify for the last 16 of the tournament.

I personally see it as our only opportunity of winning a national competition, but at the same time couldn’t care less if the event continued or not in the future.

Whilst we do compete for the trophy I have long wished for a trip to one of the non-Scottish teams.

As I write this letter the draw has not been made and we only have Linfield from Northern Ireland left in the last 16 draw, so hopefully we get them away.

Whomever we get in the next round it seems we will be without both Jai Quitongo and Jack Baird, who in my opinion were harshly sent off against Ayr United.

Unfortunately this is the third occasion this season that Quitongo has been sent off and whilst I believe two of them were rather harsh he does need to mature and not get involved in such scenarios.

Keeping 11 men on the park going forward will be a must if we want to emulate the team of 1992 who reached the cup final and, even though we lost, that game it was a superb day and night which many of us will never forget.
