GREENOCK Morton Women 3-3 Dryburgh Athletic: Morton battled back from a two-goal deficit to claim a point at Parklea on Sunday against Dryburgh.

Colin McEachnie’s side found themselves behind in the 33rd minute, with a Dryburgh counter attack resulting in a shot that crashed off the underside of the bar and into the net.

The away side then doubled their lead immediately following the restart of the second half, with Morton being caught cold defensively, allowing a tap-in from close range.

Defender Emma Dolan’s looping free-kick from distance halved the deficit on 57 minutes, however, the away side restored their two-goal advantage shortly afterwards, with an incisive counter attacking goal.

Young striker Rhiana Rankin’s introduction to the fold reaped immediate reward, with the striker reaching an excellent through-ball from Sara Paterson to bring the hosts back into the match.

With 10 minutes remaining on the clock, skipper Rachael McConnachie was brought down in the box, with midfielder Jacqui Seagrave netting the resulting penalty to round off the Ton’s two-goal comeback.

General manager Dean McKinnon praised the character of the squad.

He said: “I think the positive from Sunday is obvious, we found ourselves two goals down and managed to rescue a point.

"Whilst there is frustration and disappointment that we found ourselves in that position, we have to be proud of the character of this squad, who have once again scored late to claim a result.

"The coaching staff will analyse the match and we will use this to push forward once again ahead of a trip to Livingston this weekend."

The Ton now sit fifth in the SWF Championship, and travel to take on second place Livingston on Sunday, with a 4pm kick-off.
