MORTON boss Dougie Imrie says his search for a striker will go to the wire with the window for loan signings shutting tonight.

The Ton gaffer has been looking to bolster his frontline through the loan market since the summer transfer deadline last month.

With Jai Quitongo suspended, the Greenock side are light up front going into tomorrow's clash against Championship leaders Partick Thistle.

While Imrie admits the situation is out of his hands, the 39-year-old says he will continue to look at any potential short-term signings if the right player becomes available from a top flight club.

He told the Tele: "We will always keep our eyes and your ears open.

"We are always trying our best to try and get people in, but at the moment like I keep saying it is out of my hands.

"I can only do business when other clubs and the players we are looking at decide to let them out, so on that front there is nothing moving at the moment.

"We are working tirelessly behind the scenes.

"If it comes off then great, and if it doesn’t then we will have to go with what we have until January when the window opens again and we can hopefully get players in, but at the moment there is nothing happening."

Imrie says the transfer window has been frustrating at times this season, with the club missing a number of signing targets.

The Ton manager would be delighted to land one more player but is satisfied with the squad he has at his disposal.

He said: "You have to take the good with the bad, and you try and get players in the door as quickly as you can and as best you can.

"If players decide to go elsewhere then you move on, there is no hard feelings.

"I have been in football a long time, a deal is never done until the paper is signed and delivered.

"You are always working as hard as you can to get bodies in the door, and if they don’t come off, then we know as a club and as staff we have tried our upmost to get these players to the club.

"Sometimes it just doesn’t work out, you just move on to the next one and that is how football works, and that is at the top level as well.

"You try and get your targets, and if they come off then great and if they don’t then you move on to the next player and see if you can get him.

"But over the summer it has been a bit up and down with certain things, however, over the piece we have done pretty well.

"If we can get one more in to try and help us through the winter until we get to January then great, but if not I am happy with what we have in the building."
