MORTON defender Alan Lithgow has left the club by mutual consent.
The 34-year-old was absent from the squad for Saturday's match against Arbroath and his exit was announced today.
Lithgow was signed by Gus MacPherson in the summer of 2021 after leaving Livingston.
He went on to make over almost 50 appearances for Ton and played a key part in the team securing Championship safety last term.
Lithgow sustained an injury towards the end of last season which kept him out for a lengthy spell.
He has been unable to break back into the team since his return, with his last outing in the penalty shootout defeat to Raith Rovers in the SPFL Trust Trophy.
The club said: "Everyone at Greenock Morton would like to thank Alan for his time and efforts in a Morton jersey and wish him well for the future."
