MORTON have announced that their legendary former goalkeeper Erik Sorensen is to be inducted into the club's hall of fame.

Erik made 232 appearances for the Cappielow club across two spells and picked up 69 clean sheets.

Following his playing days, he was appointed Ton manager in 1974, a position that he spent around 18 months in.

The Morton Hall of Fame was launched back in 2014 to celebrate the special contribution of individuals who have made a significant impact on the club and Ton bosses say they are 'honoured to add Erik to this special group'.

His signing in 1964 was a major coup which made headlines in both Scotland and Denmark, where he was the international team goalkeeper.

Club historian Niall McGilp said: "Sorensen was a wonderful ‘keeper, super-fit, incredibly hard working, and technically well ahead of many of his Scottish counterparts."

Erik was one of nine Danish internationalists to feature for Morton in that era and later played for Rangers before hanging up his gloves and moving to the sidelines.
