MORTON boss Dougie Imrie says his side finally got the win they deserved after they battered Hamilton 2-0 on a horrible night at Cappielow.

Grant Gillespie's tenth goal of the season and super-sub Alexander King's fine finish put John Rankin's men to the sword and Ton within three points of fourth spot.

But the Ton chief reckons that his side have been due a win after the performances put in in recent weeks.

And Imrie declared that his side are in the play-off frame on merit after their performances so far this season, as he challenged them to go one further and beat Dundee this weekend.

He told the Tele: "I think that any three points is a good three points to get. I think the boys have deserved more in the last couple of weeks but it's football, and sometimes you don't get what you deserve.

"I thought that tonight from start to finish we were brilliant and really dominant. Hamilton really didn't create much, but I think that that's because we didn't allow them too.

"Then in the second half, it was one way traffic. Even with the goals we got it could've been anything at the end.

"I think Hamilton have a lot to thank Ryan Fulton for with the saves that he pulled off, especially the one from Calvin Miller's header, it was unbelievable.

"But I’ve seen him do that quite a few times in the last four or five weeks.

"We're three points off of Ayr in fourth now, but listen it was always going to be tough for us to get into the play-offs, even at the start of the season.

"We're just delighted to be where we are, but we've now got four massive games coming up to determine if we'll finish there.

"Do I think my players deserve to be in the play-offs? Yes, absolutely.

"I think they deserve to be there on merit because they've been fantastic throughout the full season.

"The last few weeks, we've deserved more points from games than we've got out of them, but you've just got to keep working hard and keep fighting and i firmly believe that we got the rewards of that fight tonight.

"We've got a tough game against Dundee coming up but we've had three good results so far against them this season so hopefully we can follow that up with a fourth."
