DEVASTATED defender Darragh O’Connor says he’d happily have sacrificed his first Morton goal if it meant his side could’ve held on for a priceless victory against Dundee.

O’Connor’s 17th minute strike at Dens Park coupled with second half strikes from Robbie Muirhead and Jack Baird looked to have Ton home and hosed on Taysidem as they sat 3-1 up against the league leaders with 20 minutes to play.

But a soul-destroyed O’Connor was left agonising as they were pegged back and had to settle for a point.

He told the Tele: “The goal has been coming, the last time we played them at Cappielow, I had one cleared off the line.

“I’ve had a few opportunities to put the ball in the back of the net this season but it just hasn’t fallen for me.

“But I’d have taken a 3-2 or a 3-1 win if it meant that I didn’t score.

“It’s great for me personally to get on the scoresheet, but we came to Dundee with one aim and that was to get three points and ultimately it feels like we’ve come away with a defeat after the position we were in.

“We’ve got a good dressing room in there, we’ve got to take encouragement that for 75 minutes we played very good football and I think we shaded the chances.

“We’ll have to analyse it on Monday but we can use it as motivation going into the final three games.”
