DOUGIE Imrie fears that Morton’s play-off chances could go up in smoke due to their inability to properly defend set pieces.
The Ton chief could only watch in horror on Saturday as his men blew a two goal lead to draw with Dundee in a game which saw five goals from dead balls.
He says that shows just how tight the Championship has been this season and how important it is to be able to deal with them.
Imrie told the Tele: “There’s nothing between teams in this league but if you don’t want to put your head and body on the line then you’ll concede.
“It’s a case of who wants it more and unfortunately for both teams on Saturday they conceded three goals.
"I think the goals we lost are very poor. The first one’s a mistake from a slack pass, it’s a cross into the back post where we should do better. The smallest guy on the park heads home.
“The second goal is a free kick we don’t need to give away and the same again, a ball into the back post, a free header and the third one is just, wow, I can’t explain what some players are thinking.
"At that moment, that they had the ball at their feet and again they give away a needless free kick and it leads to a goal. In moments in the game I thought we were good, but we also shot ourselves in the foot.”
