GOAL hero Alexander King believes Morton are proving doubters wrong as they refuse to bow out of promotion play off contention.

The 18-year-old scored his second goal in three games to ensure Ton defeated Raith Rovers in a nervy 1-0 victory at Cappielow on Saturday.

It narrowed the gap to the top four down to just two points.

Ton now prepare to face Queen's Park in a huge clash at Cappielow on Saturday and King hopes they can follow up with another victory.

He told the Tele: “It was a really good start for ourselves. On my goal, Calvin Miller had some tricky feet out on the right and sent in a brilliant delivery.

“I was lucky to find a bit of space and make a run and thankfully the ball went in the back of the net.

“My initial thought was just head it into the ground, go back across the goalkeeper and see if we can force it into the back of the net and thankfully it did.

“The win keeps us right in the mix for the playoffs.

"We’ve now got two games left and we just need to see where it takes us.

“We’ll take each game as it comes and hopefully we can get two wins out of two to give ourselves the best chances of doing it.

“It would be a massive achievement for us, I think we were written off at the start of the season but we’ve done well so far and we’re looking to hopefully go and get the job done now.

“Nobody expected us to be this far up the table, but I think we’ve been brilliant all season and its showing.”
