MORTON midfielder Robbie Crawford hopes that Saturday’s win against Raith Rovers will be the catalyst that propels Morton into a top four finish.

The tenacious midfielder believes that his side can still make the promotion play-offs as they now gear up for what promises to be a bumper clash against Queen's Park at Cappielow this Saturday.

But Crawford concedes his side need to play better against Owen Coyle’s men after failing to build on their early goal against Raith at the weekend.

He told the Tele: “We want to try and get into those play-offs and the win on Saturday against Raith has put us right back in the mix for that.

“We’re two points off of them just now but if we want to give ourselves a chance then we need to win our next two games and see what happens.

"It’ll be tough but if we focus on ourselves then you never know what could happen.

“We’ve got another tough game coming up this week, but we’ve had a good season against Queen's Park with two wins and a draw so far, we’ll be looking to get another and see where it takes us.

“In fairness, in the first half of the last game they battered us but apart from that we’ve done well.

"It’ll be a tight game but hopefully we can get a big crowd out backing us and we can try to keep the ball rolling.

"We know we need to improve for the game against Queen's Park on Saturday.

“Everybody in the dressing room knows that we didn’t play the best we could’ve done, but we’ll take the three points and move on.”

Crawford wants his side to match the intensity of the first 20 minutes they displayed against Ian Murray’s men at the weekend.

He said: “I thought we played alright in the opening stages but then we sat off them and gave them a bit too much time on the ball. But we got the win, so it’s all that matters.

“We started really well and got the goal which gave us something to build on but then we allowed them into the game.

"We had a couple of chances after that where we probably should’ve had another goal.

“But the Raith game was just about getting three points.

"It didn’t matter how we got them, we knew we just needed to grind out a win and thankfully we were able to go and do that to keep ourselves in with a shout.”
