MORTON player of the year contender Liam Grimshaw has refused to rule out extending his stay at the club and admitted it has made him fall back in love with football.

Grimshaw came to Cappielow last autumn after suffering a frustrating couple of years at Motherwell.

He says a bout of glandular fever turned into a test of mental endurance as he worked his way back to fitness.

The Englishman revealed his gratitude to the staff at Cappielow for showing the belief which allowed him to get back to his best.

Grimshaw told the Tele: “Glandular fever was a weird one to be forced out with.

“One minute you’re fine and then the next you’re knackered without really doing much and there’s no timeframe on that.

“I'd had a couple of frustrating seasons before coming to Morton through one thing or another.

“They’ve given me a platform to get back playing and really enjoying my football again.

"I think you can see that I am out on the pitch really enjoying being here.

“It’s been good to get back playing and really have a manager, staff and people around you who trust and believe in you.

“It’s been a good opportunity to get back playing and enjoying it again - I’ve loved every minute.

“Staying on for next year? I don’t know yet to be honest. I’m not sure. But I certainly wouldn’t rule it out.

“We’ll just need to see what happens."
