MORTON shot stopper Brian Schwake has urged his side to focus only on themselves and ensure they have no regrets as they look to sneak into the play-off places tonight.

Ton need a win against Cove and a result to go their way elsewhere, but the American goalkeeper says they cannot afford to get caught up with events outside their control.

He insists they will need to be at their best if they are to take all three points, with Cove picking up four points out of their last six.

Schwake told the Tele: “It’s so important that we go into tonight and leave it all out there.

"We can only control what we do and that’s how we play and ourselves.

“Hopefully we can do enough to go and get the win and everything else takes care of itself because you never know where that could take us.

“If we try to hyper focus on results elsewhere and let that impact on our performance then we’ll just trip ourselves up which we can’t afford to do."

Schwake hopes conditions are a bit more benign weather-wise than they were on Ton's last trip to Balmoral Park back in November.

He said: “I know people talk about how bad Arbroath is to go and play at, but the last game at Cove was the windiest thing I’ve ever seen.

“I don't know if its like that all the time, but it was especially bad on that day and I’ve never seen anything like it. It made it harder for us.

"We need to be at our best to try and get what would be a massive win.

“Cove are fighting for their lives, they’ve picked up in their last few games.

"We know that we need to go out and take care of business, which means hopefully coming away with three points.”

On loan Schwake revealed that he is set to discuss his future with Livingston boss David Martindale at some point next week.

The Lions chief revealed earlier this week that he will see a whopping £200k slashed from his budget going into next season, throwing the American’s future into serious doubt.

With his Livi contract up at the end of the season, he hopes that he can continue his development in Scotland.

Schwake told the Tele: “I think I’m due to meet with the gaffer at Livi next week.

“After that I’ll have more of a clue going forward about what’s happening following the news of budgets over there.

“I’d like to stay in Scotland if possible, I’m settled here.

“It’s important as a young keeper to get as many minutes as possible under your belt and I've been lucky enough to do that at Linlithgow, FC Edinburgh and now here at Morton.

“I’m nearing 100 appearances by the age of 22 which is brilliant, so hopefully I can continue to learn and develop like I have been.”
