MORTON midfielder Lewis McGrattan says his team are on the up regardless of what happens in tonight's final game of the season.

As they look to break into the promotion play-offs on the final round of fixtures, McGrattan firmly believes that they are improving all the time and that the six point gap between them and league leaders Dundee shows how much progress they have made.

The 22-year-old told the Tele: “We know that if we beat Cove then we give ourselves a good chance so that’s what we’re looking to do, finish the season on a high.

“It’s been a really tight league this season.

"The stats suggest that we’re getting better and better as time goes on.

“Even if you look at Raith beneath us, they’re on 42 points and in other years that might have you still in and about it.

"Everyone’s pushed each other the whole way and it does make it a better spectacle for folk to go and watch.

“Nobody’s taken it by the scruff of the neck and gone on to take a leap at the top end of the league.

"We’re only six points off the top as it stands but that just makes it more competitive and gives us plenty of positives to take forward.”
