"The last few years had been tough for me but when I went to Annan I've enjoyed every single minute.

“I went into the awards night just looking to have a good time with the boys.

“I didn’t even realise that my two awards, the Directors' Player of The Year and Staff Player of The Year, were even a thing, so I was absolutely delighted to get the recognition for the hard work that I've put in this season.

“You see that some people go out on loan and just fall away and that stuck in the back of my mind when I came here. I didn’t want to do that.

“I tried to put my all into things and thankfully it’s worked out for me.

“Some people might’ve raised a few eyebrows the fact that I've gone out on loan and that’s fine.

“I was told last minute that I could go so I didn’t really have that many options.

"It was only two days before the transfer window shut so I was up against it but I’m really happy that I've come here and had the season I have done. It’s one I've enjoyed.

“The playoffs are confirmed for us and hopefully we can push on and get the club promoted.

“They got really close last year so hopefully we can go one step further and get the club into League One this time around.”

Lyon admits he feels proud to have earned the respect of of his fellow pros by making the PFA Team of the Year.

He said: “It’s amazing. I was a bit surprised when I got the call if I’m being honest, it’s quite overwhelming.

“These are players that you come up against week-in, week-out that have recognised how well you’ve done, so it’s a brilliant achievement and I'm over the moon with it.

“I’ve had a few people who haven’t believed in me or given me a chance.

"It’s just amazing to be able to go out, work hard and see it all pay off now.”
