MORTON boss Dougie Imrie admits he may have no option but to look at bringing in younger players ahead of the new season.

The Ton gaffer has highlighted the fact that the money on offer elsewhere has risen, thanks to the arrival of new teams in the league.

He warns this competition could mean his hands are tied when it comes to negotiations, but says that he still hopes to add some new faces in the near future as the opening League Cup game against Kelty Hearts draws closer.

He told the Tele: “There were a few young boys out there against Alloa on Saturday and yes, it could be the market that I’m maybe forced to look into.

“I thought some of the boys who went on did really well. But again, that wasn’t our strongest eleven.

“Ideally, i’d have liked to have played two lots of 45 minutes to ease boys back in, then ramp it up to 60/30, then finish with a full 90 if you can.

“We don’t have that luxury at the moment, however we’ll get stronger. There’s one or two [players] that we’re looking at and hoping to try and bring in.

“But ultimately it comes down to finances and if they’re happy with what we’re able to offer.

“We’re not restricted, the budget is similar to last season, but it's about trying to get players to sign for what we can offer.

“There’s bigger teams in the league, Dundee United, Dunfermline, Airdrie who can offer more. Its just about firefighting what you can offer players.”
