GREENOCK WANDERERS' pre-season matches set up a notch when they play host to 3rd Division Cartha at Fort Matilda on Saturday.
Cartha did not have a good season last year and will be looking to hit the ground running at Fort Matilda.
Apparently they have regrouped and have some new players as a result of the demise of the SRU Super 6 collapse making some 200 players looking for a Club.
Wanderers will have their strongest side to date for the match, training has gone well and numbers have been good, selectors will have plenty to choose from.
Unfortunately, Cartha cannot put a 2nd XV together so at the time of this article they are hopeful of having some opposition by Saturday.
Elsewhere at the weekend as sections gear up for competitive matches the club look forward to welcoming back one of their fastest growing sections.
The 'Wee Wandies' start back after a summer break on Saturday morning ( Age 3 - 5 ) 10am - 11am. That's just the start of a weekend full of action for the club as the Under 18s play Renfrewshire Raiders at Bishopton, with a 2pm kick off.
Sunday see's yet another busy day with the Micros (P1-P4) 10:30am-11:30am alongside the minis (P4 - P7) training 10:30am-11:30am.
The Women's section's senior training rounds off a busy morning of action from 11am-12.30pm before the Under 14's face off against East Kilbride at Fort Matilda, 1pm kick off.
As a result, U15s training takes place at the Battery park 11:30am-12:45pm, whilst the Under 16s face off against Bishopton at 2pm.
