AN INVERCLYDE student has become the first junior girl to clinch the Greenock Golf Club ladies' championship.
Breaking records at 15, Jayla Kepler, a Clydeview Academy pupil, only launched her golfing career four years ago.
She triumphed over seasoned player Dorothy Fisher at the par-three 13th hole, winning the match six and five.
Building an impressive sporting profile, Jayla is among the top 10 female golfers of her age group in Junior Tour Scotland.
She is also making her mark off the field as an ambassador for the Junior Tour.
Inspired by golf wizards Jordan Spieth and Lexi Thompson, Jayla is also set to represent Junior Tour Scotland at the IMG Barcelona U16 Championship in Barcelona this month.
Outside of the league, Jayla also benefits from a three-year sponsorship deal with engineering firm, XBuro UK Ltd.
Her father, Colin, said the company’s support was instrumental in boosting her participation in tournaments across Scotland and aiding her game development.
For the future, Jayla is focused on working hard at her game and hopes to ultimately gain a golf scholarship and to play US college golf.
