Inverclyde AC's juniors achieved 259 new personal bests during a recent competition.
Eighty-three juniors from the club's ZoominZebra section took part in their first Skill/Time Trial of the new season.
The Skill/Time Trial is one of two bi-monthly grassroots competitions the club has established, programmed into the last week of each month.
The event focuses on the club's junior Run Jump Throw initiative, with athletes participating in a 60m sprint, standing long jump, tennis ball throw, and a distance run ranging from 600m to 3000m, depending on the athlete's development stage.
Despite the fluctuating weather, all sessions were completed.
The ZZ Racers group, mainly comprising eight and nine-year-olds, faced a strong wind during their session but managed to complete it dry and even enjoyed some sunshine.
This group has developed from last year's initiative for children who require a wheelchair or walking frame.
With support from Caroline Johnston of Neil’s Wheels, Peter Drysdale from Frame Running Scotland, and Scottish Athletics Disability manager Pamela Robson, the club has now integrated this group, providing a link between the minis session for five to eight-year-olds and the nine and over club sessions.
The club expressed gratitude to its coaching team for their continued support of the junior programme and events.
The next challenge for the juniors will be the ZZ Parlauf Challenge, which involves groups from all sections of the club.
Inverclyde AC is supported by Diodes Inc, Inverclyde Council, Inverclyde Leisure, Smiths of Greenock, and Succession Wealth.
