SATURDAY was simply all about stopping the rot and getting a much needed victory after four consecutive defeats.

To be fair to the players they did exactly that and got us through to the next round of the cup in front of a very low attendance.

We now move on to potentially the most difficult away fixture in our Championship campaign as we travel to Dundee to play a United team that seems to be hitting some form.

Last week I met ex Morton legend Alan Mahood and it brought back exciting memories of previous meetings between United and ourselves.

Who could forget our first game of season 1995/6 when more than 1,500 Morton fans decked out in the Argentina style strips witnessed a wonderful strike from Mahood which earned us an excellent away point.

Then there was the very last game of that season when a winner-takes-all match at a sold out Cappielow saw both these teams fight out a very impressive two-all draw.

Ah memories. If only we had some of that team in the current squad, and it would be superb if we were getting even a percentage of the support we had on those aforementioned games!

Where are you all now when Morton are playing these days?
