MORTON boss Dougie Imrie has told his players to go and make the most of the occasion when turning out at Tannadice tomorrow against league leaders Dundee United.

The Ton chief has poured praise on Jim Goodwin's side for making an impressive start to the season upon their return to the Championship for the first time in three years.

But Imrie still believes that his players can come back down the road with something to build upon, as they look to end a losing sequence.

He told the Tele: "We'll need to give Dundee United respect.

"They're the top of the table and have started the season really well.

"They've recruited good players to come and play in the Championship on top of what they already had from last season.

"They'll want to keep their run going and extend their lead at the top of the table but we'll go there looking to get our first win in four games.

"We're looking forward to going up there. The pitch will be excellent as will the atmosphere, so we want to go and make the most of it.

"It'll be a great occasion for everyone, especially the younger boys in the squad. Dundee United are a Premiership side, who unfortunately got relegated last season and now find themselves in the Championship.

"Their squad, infrastructure, support and playing surface are all Premiership standard.

"But we want to go and give a good account of ourselves and hopefully win the game, and if we don't manage to do that then come down the road with a point."

Imrie meanwhile expressed his delight at securing defender Tyler French on loan from Dundee, with the new recruit set to go straight in for his debut.

He said: "He's a good player, who's had a good upbringing coming through at Bradford and Wrexham before winning the league at Dundee last season.

"We're delighted to get Tyler in the door. He'll be a big asset for us until the very end of the season.

"He gives us a bit of depth in the defence.

"We'd signed other players who could play there across two or three positions but we might've been short in out-and-out defenders.

"So to get someone with Tyler's experience and pedigree will be huge for us."
