THE re-scheduling of fixtures following last Saturday's country-wide postponements has meant Greenock now welcome Dalry Thistle FC to Ravenscraig tomorrow.

The Nock played Dalry earlier in the season at Merksworth park and, despite being in control of the match for long periods, lost to a late Dalry goal.

Manager Gary Fleming said: "Having not played for two weeks the squad can’t wait to get back into action and hopefully continue our recent good record of wins in the league.

"We know Dalry will be a very tough game. We deserved more from the first game, having dominated possession and created numerous chances.

"In fairness, they absorbed pressure very effectively and with nine goals conceded they currently have the best defensive record in our league."

Greenock’s recent run has seen them move up to eighth place in WOSFL 3 and a win on Saturday would see further welcome progress.

The league is proving to be highly competitive and while Bellshill Athletic are relatively comfortable at the top of the table, there is very little separating most the teams below them.

There is mixed news regarding the Greenock squad. Marner, Campbell and McLaughlin remain long terms absentees. Mark Alexander should be fit for tomoorw but Ryan Corr and Ross Kearns are doubtful.

On the plus side Fleming has moved to strengthen the squad with two exciting additions.

Nock fans will be familiar with former midfielder, Jamie Black, who has returned on a season long loan from Auchinleck Talbot.

In addition, seasoned professional Paul Murphy, who captained Dalbeattie Star in the Lowland league last year, has signed. Paul will add to the squad’s central defensive options.

It is worth noting that the manager’s options have been improved immeasurably by the pathway teams and in particular the Under 20s development squad. Several players have now gained first team experience and a couple of the boys have become matchday squad regulars.

Tomorrow's kick-off time is 2pm.

Nock's postponed Scottish Junior Cup second round match with Glenafton AFC is now scheduled for Wednesday October 18 at Ravenscraig - 8pm kick-off.

Greenock are sponsored by Saveheat, Keystore Cowal View, Safer Group, The Lighthouse Bar, McGills, ARC and Blairs.
