FORMER Morton favourite Michael Tidser says his return to Cappielow in the dugout with Kelty Hearts was an emotional experience.
Tidser left the club in 2019 at the end of his second spell but he was back on Saturday in charge of Kelty Hearts for the SPFL Trust Trophy clash between the sides.
He told the Tele: "It felt quite weird for me if I'm being honest. When I was driving down to Greenock I felt really nostalgic believe it or not, because I was here for a long time.
"I know loads of people who are at the club and I still know some of the players here. And I know Andy Millen and Dougie Imrie too.
"But I wasn't allowing it to be all about that. It was hard but it was about Kelty and trying to get a win.
"I said the same to Reece Lyon before the game, as he was coming back as well, and told him to try and go and shut a few people up and dictate the game. I thought he did really well.
"But it felt weird and Morton is a club I've got a huge amount of respect for.
"I spent the vast majority of my adolescence and adult life here at Cappielow, and I remember it fondly. I just wish them all the best going forward.
"It's always a club I'll have an affiliation with and I hope Dougie can get them climbing that league where I think they belong."
