DOUGIE Imrie insists his side must not lose against Ayr United tomorrow as they enter a hectic week that will see them play three games in six days.

The Ton supremo believes that it will be vital to get a positive result at Somerset Park as the rock-bottom Cappielow outfit currently side sit six points adrift of eighth place.

He has also warned his troops that they are in for a tough afternoon against resurgent opposition who have won two games in a row after a shaky start.

Imrie told the Tele: "When our game was cancelled last week other teams got the opportunity to make a bit of a gap between ourselves and that's what Ayr did by winning at Dunfermline whilst we were Idle.

"It makes the game tomorrow one that we certainly cannot lose. Our games have always been tough against Ayr but I know that if our boys turn up and perform to the level they can then I'm sure they'll come away with a positive result.

"Ayr have won three of their last four and are on the up again after their start, so we'll have to match that.

"They'll be vibrant after their performances in recent weeks, but we go there off the back of some positive results of our own, especially after scoring a few goals against Kelty.

"The boys are buoyed by that, but we know after last season how tough it is against Ayr and I don't see anything changing tomorrow.

"We go into every game wanting to get three points and that's the case again this weekend.

"But we certainly don't want to lose tomorrow, it's a game that we must pick up points from."

Greenock Telegraph:

The postponement against Inverness last week allowed Morton to welcome players back into the squad, including a return to training for Jai Quitongo who is ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation from an ankle injury.

Imrie said: "We've got Jai back in running and training which is great to see, we're delighted to have him back. Hopefully he's only a couple of weeks away from being back in the squad now.

"That break has given him and other players an extra week to recover from their injuries, but to be fair, I'd have rather that the game last week went ahead.

"When you're in the groove you want to try and carry that momentum and positivity. We drew against Queen's Park and then were able to go and beat Kelty.

"If we were to have won that game at home last week then we'd be going into the Ayr game with back-to-back wins under our belt.

"But we've got a great week coming up, starting with this game, then at home to Raith on Tuesday night and Dunfermline on the Friday night. It's going to be a fantastic week and hopefully we can get positive results from those three games.

"If we can do that then we put ourselves back in the pack and can kick on from there."
