DOUGIE IMRIE'S tricks weren't enough and Ian Murray's Raith Rovers got the treat of all three points as Raith Rovers inflicted Morton with their own halloween nightmare in a 2-1 defeat at Cappielow.

Iain Wilson's second half strike wasn't enough as Ton failed to find a leveller to Aidan Connolly's first half headers that saw the visitors two goals to the good before the half time whistle.

Ton were riding on a high after Saturday's timely win against Ayr United and they were looking to make sure Raith Rovers fans made the long trip back to Kirkcaldy after seeing their own Nightmare on Sinclair Street.

Imre was full of praise for the side that got all three points at Somerset Park and to reward them for their efforts he named the same side that made it two wins out of two against Lee Bullen's men.

In their way this time was an in-form Rovers who were fresh off the back of a second Fife derby victory - but Ton were out for revenge after the 3-2 defeat earlier on in the season after initially looking like they'd go on to win.

Greenock Telegraph:

Robbie Muirhead went close to adding another screamer to his collection after Euan Murray felled Cameron Blues at the edge of the box just shy of a quarter of an hour in. Muirhead stepped up and opted to go against his trademark shot across goal, and went over the wall and, fizzed an effort wide of the bar.

Morton should have taken the lead as Ross Millen's horror touch back for Dabrowski was weak and gifted George Oakley a guilt edged opportunity to open the scoring from 10-yards out - but the Polish stopper spread himself to block his effort heading for the bottom right corner and leave his opponent being the one who was haunted.

Mullin's left foot, however, would be the primary cause of so many problems for the Ton backline and it indeed would be them who suffered a first half nightmare. His deep ball from the left would see MacDonald pinned to his line, allowing the delivery to find Aidan Connolly in the middle of the box and the former Dundee United man was there to head the ball home and put the Fifers in front.

Greenock Telegraph:

They say that height matters, but not in Connolly's case as he doubled both his and the visitor's tally four minutes from the break. Poor marking from a throw in saw Millen with too much time to wrap his foot round the ball and send a wicked delivery towards the front post for the diminutive winger to plant his forehead onto the ball and send it into the bottom right corner.

Half time would maybe come at the right side for Imrie's men, who were on the ropes but for the intervention of David Dickinson. But it gave the Ton chief a chance to tweak things around as he opted to ditch the five at the back formation and revert back to the 4-2-3-1 that gave him much success last season.

It would indeed pay off less than two minutes after the restart as Ton did well to win a corner on the right hand side that Jack Baird flicked onto the bar, but Iain Wilson was on hand to poke home the rebound and put his side right back in it.

Ton would continue to push and they were nearly back on level terms with 63-minutes on the clock after Muirhead got on the end of Oakley's header back across goal, only to see his shot blocked off the line thanks to a last ditch Liam Dick block.

Greenock Telegraph:

And it looked like the equaliser would come in dramatic fashion as the clock ticked into stoppage time when the stakes couldn't be higher.

Steven Boyd's corner from the left hand side was right on top of Dabrowski and found Muirhead who got another shot off, this time an acrobatic volley cleared off the line as Raith somehow managed to hold on and leave Ton slumped at the bottom of the Championship on a wicked night in Inverclyde.
