MORTON goalkeeper Ryan Mullen says he’s ready to be called upon and help his side get into the SPFL Trust Trophy semi finals should Dougie Imrie give him the nod.

The former Celtic kid has been the preferred choice in the cup competition over league number one Jamie MacDonald.

Mullen insists the goalkeeper’s spot is always up for grabs and he wants to seize his chance.

He told the Tele: “The cup has been a bit of a welcome distraction for us, getting away from the league, and we’ve found a bit of form in it.

“It seems to have taken the pressure off the boys a little bit and hopefully against Airdrie we will do something similar again.

“If the gaffer picks me, I will take the chance.

“I think I’ve said it before, but the goalkeeper's jersey is only borrowed.

“It’s a decision every weekend as to who’s going to play.

“You’ve got to be ready for it and if I get picked I will do anything I can to help the team get into the semi finals."
