MORTON striker Robbie Muirhead says he's relishing a return to league action as his side head north to face off against Arbroath tomorrow.

The Cappielow side's top goal scorer was forced off at half time against Dunfermline at the beginning of last month with a hamstring injury.

Muirhead missed two weeks worth of action before returning against Airdrie and Bo'ness in cup action and he's eager to put an indifferent month behind him as he targets a positive festive period.

He told the Tele: "Yeah it’s weird, I was just thinking there that I’ve not played a league game for about five or six weeks now since we had three in six days.

"But yeah, we've actually performed quite well in that time before the call off last week, so hopefully it brings confidence, albeit against a side a couple of leagues below us. But hopefully the win against Bo'ness can give us a boost.

"My hamstring's a lot better now, thankfully. It was such a frustrating thing to happen during the first half against Dunfermline.

"To then come off at half-time, I just thought it looked terrible especially with how the first half had gone, but if I had continued it would have been a lot worse.

"I knew I needed to be back as soon as possible because we were still so light on bodies.

"I trained a bit the Thursday before Partick away but I couldn't get into my stride at all. I wanted to be back for that but it wasn’t to be unfortunately, but thankfully that's in the past and hopefully we can put a run together now with most boys now back fit."

TEAM NEWS

Dougie Imrie wasn’t able to enjoy last week’s call off with the same squad to choose from as his side head to Arbroath.

Both Calum Waters and Jai Quitongo miss out on the trip to Gayfield with their respective injuries.

Quitongo’s setback appears to be worse than first feared with the winger expected back closer to new year, as opposed to this weekend as first hoped.

Waters is still working his way back from a groin injury.
