MORTON boss Dougie Imrie has thrown down the gauntlet to Michael Garrity to find the extra ten per cent that he needs to become a star.

Garrity returned from a loan spell at Annan last Friday and went straight into Imrie's starting eleven against Dundee United the next day.

The wideman made a terrific start in an attacking sense by setting up Ton's first goal, but the manager felt he was found wanting for the subsequent response from the Tangerines.

Imrie insists the Ton academy product has the kind of ability that many within the game could only dream of, but says he must add the crucial last links to piece it all together.

He told the Tele: "Michael's such a talented player and he's got the technical ability that 90 per cent of players don't have, but the other ten per cent is what's killing him - and that why he's found himself out on loan in the first half of the season.

"It's the other ten per cent, the other side of the game, that I need from him and I'll not shirk away from that.

"He's a talent but if you don't want to work both ways then unfortunately you won't play in my team.

"It's up to him now to go and find that other ten per cent. I can only give him my thoughts, he needs to go and back it up, do the extra work to be fitter and stronger.

"If you don't want to do that, and I mean this in no disrespect, he'll find himself at this level of lower for the rest of his career. If he wants to give himself that chance, then it'll be up to him.

'But I love them all, I love all my players. They're giving me everything and Michael did just that against Dundee United. By putting him in I knew what I'd get from him, thankfully I was proved right."
