BUOYED Morton playmaker Robbie Crawford insists his side don't have anything to prove when they welcome Partick to Cappielow this weekend.

Ten points separate Dougie Imrie’s men and the Firhill outfit, who’ve registered two victories over them this season already.

Whilst keen to buck that trend against his old club, Crawford says his side are full of confidence heading into the clash.

He told the Tele: “We’re buzzing for it, the games against Partick are always quite tense, a bit fierce and feisty.

“There’s never much in them and they’re usually good games with the fans right up for it. That relays onto us and we’ll try to get the win.

“The two games we’ve had prior against them this season were equally as frustrating, but for different reasons.

“I obviously got injured in the first one here at Cappielow and we had that 20-minute spell in the second half which killed us. Up at Firhill, I thought we were the better team overall and it was just a great finish from them to win the game.

“There’s no point in looking for revenge, we need to treat it like any other game and go into it in confidence, especially after the last few weeks. It should be a good game because they’ve been going well too.”

Crawford admits he fancies getting in on the goalscoring act against his old club after watching team-mates George Oakley and Robbie Muirhead notch hat-tricks in the team's last two matches.

The former Thistle man hasn’t found the back of the net in nearly three months himself, after scoring seven times in the opening weeks of the season.

He said: “I’m buzzing for big Geo and for Robbie, who deserve all their plaudits, but there does come a point where you want in on the act yourself. Especially after I scored a few at the beginning of the season.

“I don't think I’ve really had anything fall for me in the box recently, bar hitting the post against Ayr.

“I just need to keep working away and hopefully start hitting the mark again soon.”
