HOPES are growing that fan favourite Lewis Strapp will activate an option to extend his Morton contract until the end of the season, the Tele can reveal.

The academy graduate completed a dramatic return to Cappielow at the beginning of last month, marking his return from an 11-month injury lay-off after fracturing his kneecap against Celtic this time last year.

Strapp signed a short term deal until January 31 and hasn't looked back since.

The Cappielow club have soared up the table since his return to the club, winning six out of nine during a superb unbeaten run.

There has been much speculation surrounding the 24-year-old's future, with the likes of Kilmarnock, Dundee and Ayr United reported to be monitoring the left back's situation.

The Telegraph understands that the affinity the academy graduate has with the club, as well as the recent upturn in form, could now see an agreement reached for him to stay until May.

Meanwhile the Tele also understands that Cappielow top brass have been looking at options to bolster Dougie Imrie's squad during this month's transfer window.

It's believed they have been looking at players from south of the border, but any deals could depend on moving fringe players out on loan first.
