SATURDAY'S victory over Montrose made it 10 games unbeaten for Morton.

Hands up anybody who thought that would happen in November when we languished at the foot of the Championship table four points from safety!

The unbeaten run will surely come to an end sometime this season but the remarkable turnaround both in performances and results should enable everyone from the players and management team to be happy and content with life down Cappielow way.

The latest game in that unbeaten run saw an extremely gutsy performance from visitors Montrose, who came and had a real go at Morton especially in the first half when we were not at our best.

Thankfully Dougie Imrie and the boys produced a professional second half performance thus enabling us to get into the next round of the Scottish Cup where we face a potentially winnable tie at home to premier league Motherwell.

Talking about Dougie, it was interesting to read in Saturday’s Tele how he spent new year’s eve driving about Wales to secure the signing of Jordan Davies for next season, which for me is extremely encouraging to see he is still actively trying to improve the team going forward.

I keep hearing rumours that he can’t wait to get out of Cappielow if a better opportunity arises and whilst that may well be the case he at least seems to still be giving 100 per cent as our manager, which is no surprise as it is exactly what he did as a player back in the day!
