GREENOCK'S match with Girvan was postponed at the weekend due to Hamilton park being frozen.

To cap a frustrating weekend for The Nock, rivals Finnart, Vale of Leven and Lanark United all secure three points to further congest the race for promotion.

However, the squad were not idle and a full training session was undertaken to keep fitness levels up for the coming weeks. Next up for the juniors is a crucial home match this Saturday against Vale of Leven

Unlike the senior group, all of Greenock’s pathway teams were in action over the weekend.

On Friday under the lights at Battery park the under 20s development side registered a hard-fought 2-1 win over Dumbarton in the second round of WOSFL Challenge Cup. Goals by Zak Crombie and Craig Darroch saw Greenock through to the next stage of the competition.

The under 18s also progressed to the next round of the West Region Cup with an excellent 6-0 home win over Yoker. On target for Greenock were Harkness, R Morris (2) O’Brian and Byrne (2).

The weekend was not so kind to the under 17s and 16s. Very much out of kilter with general form, both were on the wrong end of 5-0 score lines. The 17s lost away to Barrhead YFC in the Paisley and Johnstone District league, and the 16s crashed out of the West Region Cup to the Sons of Struth in a tie played at Notre Dame.
