THE last week in the life and times of a Morton supporter could hardly have gone any better than what we experienced.

The team extended their unbeaten run, gained a professional victory against Arbroath, produced another clean sheet and perhaps just as important our manager Dougie Imrie extended his contract at Cappielow!

I have waxed lyrically recently about how Dougie has turned around the fortunes of the club especially after many of us had some doubts when we have our bad run of results.

I am personally delighted he has signed on for a longer period and hopefully that will eliminate the rumours he was leaving the club, well at least for the moment as I’m sure the more successful he is with Morton then other clubs may come in for him?

As for Saturday’s win over one of our bogey teams it wasn’t pretty at times but football being a results business ensures that the vast majority of the 1,800 or so at the game went home reasonably happy.

It was interesting to note that we had the smallest attendance of the weekend in the Championship and that must be disappointing for the club, especially as there was next to little atmosphere created in the Cowshed to lift the players during a drab first half.

Having said that, a huge pat in the back to the 'young team' who appeared behind the Sinclair Street end in the second half and created a great atmosphere, thus justifying the decision made by the club to allow under-15s in free of charge.
