MORTON midfielder Cameron Blues says that he and the rest of his team-mates have been given a huge boost as a result of boss Dougie Imrie signing a new contract.

Blues says Imrie has transformed the outlook at Cappielow since taking charge in late 2021.

He believes that the secret to the manager's success has been keeping things as simple as possible and getting the basics right on a daily basis.

Blues told the Tele: "That news gave us a bit of a lift.

"Obviously we're not privy to stuff like that so we don't know how long that's been going on in the background for, but it's good that he's been tied down for another two years or so.

"He's been a really good manager for us, personally and as a collective. It's good to have him staying.

"Since he's come in the team has only gone in one direction, and I think that's because he drills in the basics of the game every single day.

"Andy Millen is brilliant too and he doesn't get a lot of credit. He's excellent for us, he calms us down and just talks about the basics a lot as well.

"We'll see where we go from here under them."
