MORTON have announced a packed programme of events to celebrate the club’s 150th anniversary and recognise its ‘fantastic’ journey over the years.

The series will kick off with the first of three ‘An Evening with…’ events on March 14 at 7pm – with the other being held on June 20 and August 22.

These discussions will see club legends recall their times at Cappielow and the chapters they have helped write in the Morton story.

On May 4, there will be a combined Player of the Season and Hall of Fame dinner at Greenock Town Hall.

The event will celebrate the top talents of today for both the men’s and women’s teams, as well as honouring players from years gone by, with six new Hall of Fame members inducted.

Morton will also team up with the Gourock Tartan Army club to organise an event which will see a number of local youth teams compete for a trophy in memory of Ton legend Jimmy Cowan.

A date is yet to be confirmed for the tournament, but the final will be played at Cappielow.

Gourock Golf Club will also play a part in the celebrations by hosting an anniversary golf day in July.

Morton will see out the series of events with a major gala dinner in October.

General manager Dale Pryde-MacDonald said: “Throughout the year we want to create a diverse and accessible range of events for all fans.

“Work is also ongoing around other events for the anniversary that includes young people, the local community and the in-stadium experience on matchdays and we hope to bring more information on those projects very soon.”

“When I joined the club, the 150th anniversary was something I was really looking forward to working on.

“The team here are working tirelessly to ensure that this year will be one to remember for everybody connected to the club and one we can all look back on with pride, happiness and honour.”
