DELIGHTED Morton boss Dougie Imrie has declared that his side’s January transfer window couldn’t have gone much better - even if he will have to wait six months for his only new signing to arrive.

Imrie landed a coup by securing Welsh striker Jordan Davies from Connah's Quay Nomads on a pre-contract, meaning it will be June before he arrives at Cappielow.

But the manager is happy with the current squad he has at his disposal - and a series of new deals for key men.

Lewis Strapp, Ryan Mullen and Logan O’Boy have all agreed extensions while Iain Wilson's loan from Queen of the South has been made permanent.

Imrie told the Tele: “I’m really happy with the business we’ve managed to conduct in January.

“We’ve managed to get Lewis to sign until the end of the season, Iain has signed a permanent deal that runs until 2025, Ryan has extend his contract for eighteen months and Logan has signed his first professional contract until 2025.

“Looking ahead to the summer we managed to get Jordan to sign a pre-contract that’ll have him with us for two years, so I’m delighted to have gotten all of that done.

“The window, overall, has been a success. I’m really happy with it. I understand why the fans maybe wanted to see one or two new faces come in.

“But the squad is quite full now with Michael Garrity and Alexander King coming back in. I know Alexander has gone out on loan again, that was his choice, but we’ve got good competition for places now which is brilliant."

Imrie also revealed there was no realistic prospect of accelerating Davies' move up from Wales early.

Greenock Telegraph:

He said: “I would’ve liked to bring Jordan in as soon as possible, but I think there was a lot of circumstances we weren’t able to work around.

“Connah’s Quay wanted a transfer fee for him and then things like accommodation come into play after that.

“I think it works best for both parties that it happens in the summer.

“He’s a good player, it would’ve been nice to have him now, but again the amount of bodies we’d have had at the top end of the park would’ve been a lot.

“We’ll move from here and we look forward to the summer with him.”
